VIDEO: Kalki Koechlin Gives A New Meaning To GST With Respect To Sanitary Napkins

Actress Kalki Koechlin is one of them who can openly speak up on social issues. She never shied away from voicing her opinion on social problems. Now once again she comes and presents her views on GST and gives a new meaning to it. She speaks up on GST with Respect to sanitary napkins in a video. In video, she questions the relevance of imposing a 12 per cent tax on sanitary napkins.
In this video GST’s full form is not the Goods and Service Tax but it is Girls ko Satao Tax.

The actress Kalki Koechlin bluntly opines that periods are taxing any way for women and putting ‘taxes’ on them really does not help. “I don’t know about acche din but humari life mein har mahine paanch not-so-acche-din toh hote hi hain (I don’t know about good days, but in our lives, we have at least five mandatory not-so-good days),” she says and goes on to add that though different brands of sanitary napkins exist neither of them come tax-free, and while people in the country are busy debating about “airport looks” and “religious crooks” the topic of menstruation, which she says is not a “majboori” (weakness) but a perfectly natural bodily function is overlooked.
